My new baby! What should I name it?

When it comes to social media, share too much and you’re boring everyone with Instagrammed appetizers. But the opposite’s just as bad:...
Tom Hardy set to star in Japanese Director Takashi Miike’s (of Audition and Ichii the Killer fame) first English film.
Titled “The Outsider”, it tells the story of an American...
Lord Voldemort “Louis Vuitton” sweater.
Diggin’ this film inspired, pop culture slogan range of apparel. Particular favourite is the above Lord V sweater.
GET SOME.
‘tsundoku’ - the Japanese word for buying books & not reading them, leaving them to pile up. Who else is guilty of this?

I’m in Miami baby! Well no I’m not, I’m in my garden in sunny (for now) South East London, but if I close my eyes and feel my skin lap up the Vitamin D shining down on me I can almost pretend I am. Almost. But with a little bit of work and support from the brilliant Orlebar Brown guys I could be. Damn it! I mean you could be.
I’ve always been a massive fan of the OB brand, my collection of their shorts is building slowly and the more I wear them, the more compliments I get on their cut (very flattering) and style (practically timeless but not dull) the more I realise their prices are worth every singe penny. And that’s before I go on about the quality of make.

Anyway I digress, they’ve asked me to help promote their summer competition this year and who am I to refuse a brand I’ve been a massive supporter of. Of course I get to be one of their brand ambassadors this summer too so that’s no bad thing for me.
This summer it’s all about living the OB way of life. Per chance to dream I here you say. Well simple head over to the competition page, download/print your mask (or get one by ordering a new pair of shorts online!), and take a pic of yourself living the OB way of life, upload it here and you could be off to the Mandarin Oriental in Miami for 5 nights, with some spending money to boot. I mean look at it!

(Disclaimer: I’m fairly certain she is not part of the prize! Also my back garden is looking even less Miamiesque now)
And if you dont win the big prize you could get a spending spree at OB, and weekly they’re handing out a Classic short. Happy days all round really.

Good luck! And if you do win be sure to let me know. I’ll do my best to get my holiday approved to join ya!
Absolutely love these shorts from Orlebar Brown. You see I’ve lost faith in the notion of a Great British Summer. You know the type our parents talk about, where the sun shone for months on end, children played outside and not on the internet and nothing was drab or dreary. Essentially the Darling Buds of May, before Catherine Zeta-Jones legged it to Hollywood to see Gordon Gekko through his winter years. I’m not sure I even had those summers as a child. I think they had waned to days of sunshine and not months. So heaven knows what the summers our children will be like.
I digress, but it goes to the point of why these pac-a-shorts, officially called the Pack-Away collection are a genius idea. As a fan of the shorter short on sunny days these are ideal. Why? well you can keep these in your gym bag, or man clutch and should the sun break through the clouds you are ready for a speedy change to maximise the amount of time you can get your legs out. Should a downpour happen, as is Summers now traditional weather, you’ll be able to get changed back into your jeans without too much bother. Everyone is a winner.

Impromptu swimming opportunity? No need to worry about weather skinny dipping will be frowned upon, or worrying about the quality of your underwear and subsequent need to go commando. The Pack-Away collection means you’ll be able to dive almost straight in.
It may be mid-Feb but in fashion it’s already Spring-Summer so forget the cold and get shopping for shorts.

It’s time for the holidays, am off to sunny Spain in 20 days and frankly I need some new trunks. I have the traditional AussieBums ready to go from last year, and will probably be ordering some more. But as ever the clash between wallet and desire means the shorts (well actually two styles three ways!) will most likely be out of my reach. It pains me! Anyone that has been following this blog will know exactly what shorts I mean. It’s not like I ever shut up about them. It is of course the very lovely Orlebarbrown Bulldog & Setter.
What’s worse is that despite being invited to their fifth birthday party work commitments kept me away, (meeting the very lovely Josephine of Singtank, and their amazing performance were worth it), so I have yet to be able to meet the guys and actually give them credit face to face. Oh and I was hoping against hope a pair of shorts may have been in the goody bag.
Honestly I wish they’d stop collaborating with the likes of Nick Wooster and raiding the Getty Images collections for incredible prints. There will come a point soon where I can no longer make up excuses and will just have to fork out for great pair of trunks. But if any of you are around the new Vigo St store and fancied being ever so lovely. The shorts I’d like are as follows.
1. Fifth Anniversary Shorts with Diving Print
2. Nick Wooster Camo Print in Blue (available as Setter or a Bulldog Short)
3. Bulldog Geometric Print in Grey
Failing that I’ve also just spotted these two great pairs from Robinson les Bains on Mr Porter. Definitely hitting high points on my wishlist. The fit looks great, and am loving the prints.
Ok so yes it’s most definitely chilly and with the snow and sleet on the way. In fact in just over a week it’s actually Christmas! Like proper Christmas, not the overly protracted run up that feels like it starts just days after Easter these days. I can only imagine what it must be like to be a parent with overly hyped up children. Yes the magic of Christmas is beautiful in their eyes, the joy, the excitement, the conflicting hope and fear that they’ve been good enough to get presents from Santa, it’s without a doubt a sight to behold. You know why? Because I only have to see briefly when I visit friends and family that have taken the plunge into parenthood. Dealing with that level of anticipation on a daily basis for nine or ten weeks must be enough to act as a contraceptive all of it’s own. But that’s by the by, as I say it’s winter and perhaps a slightly surprising time to be launching a swimwear line. But not for the folks at Love Brand & Co.

Launching in the very beautiful Hempel Hotel in West London, to a crowd of famous faces young and old, from Nicky Haslam to ‘Made in Chelsea’ favourites Spencer Matthews and Hugo Taylor, the brand saw a great start to its campaign. The night sponsored in part by Tattinger, was most certainly a success and raised £13,000 for The Elephant Family. Like several other ethical and eco-focused labels Love Brand & Co, look to give back a portion of their profits to charity (5%). This is a growing trend and I definitely welcome it. Especially if done in as transparent and clear way as Love Brand appear to be. Launching with ‘Trunks for Trunks’ the company plans to expand with new ranges in 2012, each range will have a distinct and different charity linked to it.
Efforts like this need to be praised as often they aren’t clear in what they set out to achieve or the level of donation is pitiful. The fashion buying public wont just buy anything, and regardless of the cause if the product is wrong no one is going to be buying. Luckily Love Brand have managed to get this spot on, with 15 trunks for both men and boys now available online and in Selfridges.
I’ll admit I’m more of the smarter Orlebar Brown or Aussiebum wearing man, but I know these will be a massive hit. Especially amongst Villebrequin fans. The colours were bright, the prints imaginative and witty. The finishing touches were also full of wit and charm. Priced at £128, they are expensive without being prohibitive especially as they are pitching in at the Villebrequin end of the swimwear market.
So if you’re lucky enough to be running screaming from the impending doom of January’s weather (I think December has so far lulled us into a false sense of security and worse is yet to come), I would definitely recommend these.

Loving these @lovebrand trunks & part of the money goes to help Elephants. #fashion #winwin #menswear #swimwear (Taken with instagram)
It’s no secret this blog is a mahousive fan of mens swimear brand Orlebar Brown. So when this little gem appeared in my inbox I was ever so slightly excited. The sale is just after payday…it’d be rude not to? Right?
If you’re in London and can make I definitely recommend it.
